Searching, Finding, and using Views
Find in Field using Quick Find
In the toolbar there is a text entry box next to the words 'Quick Find'. Type in the text you wish to find in your inventory list and press the 'Enter' key. The item(s) in your inventory list that contains matching text are highlighted. For quicker finding, show fewer columns in your inventory grid.
To create and run a query using the 'Search Inventory' dialog:
Basic Search:
- In the toolbar, click the magnifing glass icon next to the word 'Search'. The 'Search Inventory' dialog appears.
- By default, 'Basic Search' is selected. If it is not, click on it.
- The dialog displays the words 'Search For' followed by two drop down menus and a text entry field.
- From the first drop-down menu, choose the field in which you would like to search. See known issues.
- From the second drop-down menu, choose how you want your search to behave.
- Enter the text you are searching for in the text field. To match patterns, use regular expressions.
- Click the 'Search' button or press the 'Enter' key. The dialog box closes and the results of your search appear in the inventory list.
Advanced Search:
- In the toolbar, click the magnifing glass icon next to the word 'Search'. The 'Search Inventory' dialog appears.
- By default, 'Basic Search' is selected. Click 'Advanced Search'.
- Below the Conditions box, the 'Search for' area appears as described in the Basic Search instructions above. Create a search condition using the drop-down menus and text entry field, then click 'Add condition'. Your condition is listed in the Conditions box.
- Create another condition using the 'Search for' area and click 'Add condition'. The filters are applied to your inventory in the order in which they are listed.
- To remove a condition, click on it in the Conditions list and then click the 'Remove condition' button.
- Using the radio buttons next to the words 'Search condition type', choose 'AND' or 'OR'. Choosing 'AND' will cause the search results to include only the items which meet all the conditions you listed. Choosing 'OR' will cause the search results to include items which meet any of the conditions you listed.
- Click the 'Search' button or press the 'Enter' key. The dialog box will close and the results of your search will appear in the inventory list.
Search Status Bar:
When viewing the results of your search, the search status bar will appear under the results, above the Item Info and Price Check tabs. In it you will see four icons as well as the query which was generated by your search:
- Red circle with x - close search and return to inventory.
- Green arrows - refresh the results of your search.
- Floppy disk - save query.
- Paper with green arrow - export results of query to a file.
- Run a search as described above, in the 'Basic Search' or 'Advanced Search' headings.
- Click the Floppy Disk icon in the Search Status Bar or select 'Save' from the drop-down menu which appears when you click the black triangle in the 'Search' button in the toolbar. The 'Save query' dialog appears.
- Type a name for your query and click 'Save'.
Note: you may browse to a location other than the default file location if you wish. - To run the saved search, click on the little black triangle in the Search button and select 'Load query' from the drop-down menu.
- To edit the saved search and then run it, choose 'Load query and edit', then proceed as described in the search instructions above, in the 'Basic Search' or 'Advanced Search' headings. See known issues.
- Run a search as described above, in the 'Basic Search' or 'Advanced Search' headings.
- Click the paper with green arrow icon. The Save As dialog appears.
- Browse to the location in which you wish to save the file.
- Type a name for your file and click 'Save'.
- A tab delimited file containing the results of your search is created in the SellerEngine Plus predefined format.
Find specific text in your database:
Pressing CTRL+F at any time will open a find window that allows you to find text in your inventory based on what you select:
- Select the Origin you would like the text found from.

- From selected record
- Entire inventory
- Choose the Direction you would like to search the database from.
- Backward
- Forward
- Choose what column to find the text in.
- Visible columns
- All columns
- Current column (Current column name will show in parenthesis)
- Check the case sensitive checkbox if you want the search to be
case sensitive
. - Click the Find or Find next button to find your text in the inventory list.
